Richard Kelley was promoted Thursday (Sept. 2) to president and general manager for KNSD, the NBC-owned station in San Diego. He was most recently vp of sales for KNTV, the company's owned-and-operated NBC station in San Francisco.

Kelley succeeds Jackie Bradford, who was promoted in July to president and general manager of WRC, the NBC O&O in Washington, D.C.

While at KNTV, Kelley is credited with creating new business initiatives for the station by collaborating with outside partners and clients to develop sponsorship opportunities tied to the community. His efforts paid off last year, achieving year-over-year growth for the highest market share ever for the station in a non-political, non-Olympic year.

Prior to joining KNTV in 2008, Kelley was senior director of acquisition sales for Monster Worldwide. Before that, he spent nearly 15 years in radio.

He will report to Larry Wert, president, central and western region, NBC Local Media.
