Robert McDowell To Be Re-nominated To FCC

President Barack Obama on Tuesday (June 2) announced his intention to nominate Republican Robert McDowell to a five-year term as Federal Communications commissioner. McDowell’s term ended June 1 but he would have stayed until the current session of Congress ends or a replacement is named to his slot.

The decision by the White House ended speculation that has swirled around Washington, D.C., for several weeks. McDowell, the most recent appointee of President George W. Bush, joined the commission in May 2006, filling the Republican slot vacated by chairman Michael Powell.
