NBC Universal, as part of a new long-term strategic plan for its East Coast operations, will create a News Content Center at its flagship TV station, WNBC, and will launch a 24-hour local news channel in New York City.

The move follows the creation of a content center for NBC News in New York City and precedes a planned West Coast news and content center in Los Angeles.

Under the plan, WNBC this summer will begin construction to transform its facility at 30 Rockefeller Center into a multimillion dollar content center and distribute that content across its various media platforms.
