NBC Sports coverage of the May 3 Kentucky Derby was the most-watched Derby in four years, and the second most-viewed in 17 years, according to Nielsen Media Research data released by NBC.

The actual race coverage, from 5:43 p.m. to 6:39 p.m., within the longer broadcast, averaged 14.2 million viewers, up 3 percent from last year. The household rating for the race coverage was an 8.8 with a 21 audience share, even with last year.
