(NBC) -Yesterday’s Losers:The Goode Family (ABC), The Unusuals (ABC) ---------- -Ratings Breakdown: NBC snagged a midweek metered market victory, with a two-tenth of a rating point advantage over second-place Fox on this first Wednesday in June. Third overall was CBS, followed by ABC and a night of repeats on The CW. Despite ABC’s fourth-place finish, week two of the sophomore season of summer favorite Wipeout won the 8 p.m. hour, with a 5.1 rating/9 share in the overnights. That led into two episodes of animated The Goode Family, which collapsed as follows: The Goode Family (ABC)9:00 p.m.: 2.1/ 3 (#4)9:30 p.m.: 1.5/ 2 (#4) All together now…not so good! Canceled drama The Unusuals capped off the evening for ABC with a last-place 2.3/ 4 in the overnights at 10 p.m. Quirky, no doubt, is never an easy sell to the audience. Over at dominant NBC, night three of the ridiculous I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! (which is dependent on the young adult demos) sunk to third in the 8 p.m. hour, with a 3.5/ 6. Take a look at the three-night overnight track: I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! (NBC)Monday 6/01/09: 4.3/ 7 (from 8-10 p.m.)Tuesday 6/02/09: 4.1/ 7Wednesday 6/03/09: 3.5/ 6 In the event you missed I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!, cartoonish Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt want to come back (what a shocker!), Daniel Baldwin (Stephen’s brother) has joined the cast (aren’t there enough D-listers already?), and Patti Blagojevich is safe from tonight’s live departure. Immediately following the show, Patti’s husband Rod (you know, the former governor of Illinois) told Larry King on CNN that Patti is being paid the same amount of money he was offered to appear on the reality/competition. While they are all playing for charity, they are also being compensated financially. Leading out of I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! was part two of Inside the Obama White House at a dominant 6.8/11 at 9 p.m. -- the highest rated show of the evening. The season-finale of granddaddy Law & Order capped off the evening for NBC with a first-place 6.7/12 at 10 p.m. -- 31 percent above a repeat of CBS’ competing CSI: NY (5.1/ 9). As a reminder, Law & Order moves into the Friday 8 p.m. hour next fall, leading into also relocated Southland. Personally speaking, 8 p.m. is too early for Law & Order. Also on CBS were repeats of The New Adventures of Old Christine (#4: 3.3/ 6), Gary Unmarried (#4: 3.1/ 5) and Criminal Minds (#2: 6.0/10) from 8-10 p.m. Fans of Old Christine will be happy to know that another encore telecast airs this Saturday at 8 p.m. leading into the last original episode of canceled sitcom Worst Week. You never know when a burn-off episode will pop up in the summer. Moving to Fox, another two-hour edition of So You Think You Can Dance continues to perform admirably, with a healthy 5.4/ 9 in the overnights from 8-10 p.m. Take a look at the half-hour breakdown: So You Think You Can Dance (Fox)8:00 p.m.: 4.7/ 8 (#2)8:30 p.m.: 5.3/ 9 (#1)9:00 p.m.: 6.0/10 (#2)9:30 p.m.: 6.3/10 (#2) Even so, I am still not convinced that a fall edition of the dance competition is a good idea. Last, and very least, were repeats of the CW’s America’s Next Top Model (#5: 1.0/ 2) and Hitched or Ditched (#5: 0.8/ 1). Once again, there is no real need for either reality/competition to be replayed. Source: Nielsen Media Research data (R = repeat) _____________________________________________________________________________ Ratings Box:What’s Hot/What’s Not -Conan O’Brien on The Tonight Show – Night 3:Night three of Conan O’Brien as new host of NBC franchise The Tonight Show scored a 4.3 rating/11 share in the metered markets. Comparably, that outdelivered CBS’ competing The Late Show with David Letterman (2.8/ 7) by 54 percent, and ABC’s combination of Nightline (2.7/ 6) and Jimmy Kimmel Live (1.2/ 4) by an average 121 percent. Comparably, the 4.3 rating was up by 10 percent from Tonight’s current second quarter average (3.9), and lead-out Late Night with Jimmy Fallon (1.9/ 7 at 12:35 a.m.: up 12 percent from second quarter) continues to benefit. As expected, however, Conan’s overnight performance continues to diminish as the week progresses. Take a look: The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien (NBC) Monday 6/01/09: 7.1/17Tuesday 6/02/09: 5.0/12Wednesday 6/03/09: 4.3/11 ---------- -SOAPnet Soars in May:Ignited by above-average deliveries for All My Children and One Life to Live, SOAPnet soared to its third most-watched May ever among target women 18-49 (and third most-watched overall), with 142,000 viewers in the demo. Comparably, that was up by a hefty 27 percent from one year earlier. SOAPnet also reached a new high for the month in total viewers, with 361,000 (and growth of 15 percent from one year earlier). -Record Male Audience for G4:G4, the destination for young men, reached a new zenith on Tuesday, June 2 courtesy of E3’09 convention coverage. Based on results from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. ET, the cable network rose to new highs among target men 18-34 (.41 rating), adults 18-34 (.24) and men 18-49 (.24). Comparably, the results among men 18-34 were more than four times the current 2009 average in the demo. E3’09 Live Spotlight: Nintendo & Sony from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. ET ranked as one of G4’s top 5 rated telecasts ever among men 18-34, with a .72 rating in the demo and growth of 36 percent from E3’s performance on July 15, 2008. E3’09 coverage from the convention room floor from 6-9 p.m. ET, meanwhile, averaged 161,000 viewers -- 27 percent above the network’s 2009 prime-time delivery. -CBSTD’s The Doctor’s Finishes May on Top:CBS Television Distribution talker The Doctors was the most-watched new first-run strip in May, with a 1.8 rating in households based on the final nationals, and a 2.0 rating/ 6 share in the metered markets. Compared to both its lead-in and year-ago time period averages, The Doctors built by 18 percent. -Solid Sunday for History Channel:History Channel scored an above-average rated Sunday on May 31 care of Ice Road Truckers and Expedition. The third season-premiere of Ice Road Truckers at 9 p.m. averaged 3 million viewers, 1.9 million adults 25-54 and 1.7 million adults 18-49, building in the demos from season two by 19 percent and 13 percent, respectively. Expedition Africa, which will run for eight weeks, opened with 1.3 million viewers, 723,000 adults 25-54 and 640,000 adults 18-49 at 10 p.m., building in the demo from the cable net’s prime-time average in the demos by 19 percent and 15 percent. -Syndicated Talk – Ratings Update:What follows are the national rating results for all first-run syndicated talk shows (through May 24, 2009), based on households and key women 25-54.
