The series premiere of the new TNT original drama Memphis Beat put up some big numbers Tuesday night, delivering 4.33 million total viewers in the 10 p.m. time slot.

Starring Jason Lee and Alfre Woodard, Memphis Beat served up the largest audience for a TNT debut since Men of a Certain Age bowed to 5.4 million viewers on Dec. 7, 2009. While other summer launches have enjoyed more propulsive liftoffs––Saving Grace debuted to 6.42 million viewers on July 23, 2007––Memphis Beat took to the airwaves with a much smaller lead-in.
