Ever since The Sopranos ended its critically hailed run on HBO back in 2007, many in the press have been predicting–perhaps even awaiting–the pay-cable net’s creative demise.

But with the 2008 hiring of agent-turned-programmer Sue Naegle as its entertainment president, the TimeWarner-owned unit has been ramping up its development slate with new projects like the post-Katrina New Orleans-set drama Treme, from The Wire creator David Simon, and the Atlantic City set drama Boardwalk Empire, from executive producer Martin Scorsese.
