Following The CW’s remake of Beverly Hills 90210 last season, it’s déjà vu all over again, with the fall season premiere of a new Melrose Place.

Launching Sept. 8, the prime-time soap follows the exploits of a bright, shiny group of new twentysomethings trying to make it in Hollywood, circa now.

Mediaweek correspondent Alan Frutkin talks with executive producers Todd Slavkin and Darren Swimmer (Smallville) about the strength of the Melrose Place brand, making the new series darker than the original and casting Ashlee Simpson-Wentz (who also discusses her role on the show).
