Kids in Charge at Nick's UPick Site

Nickelodeon is launching a pop culture Web site where kids can post and vote on such topics as TV, moves, music and sports.

UPickDaily.com is intended to allow kids to be "their own content providers, programming directors, distributors and news aggregators" on any number of topics, which also can include gaming, celebrities and the Internet.

On the site, kids can blog, share content, submit or take quizzes and polls or post, read and comment on what they like or dislike the most. Kid-friendly videos and photos will be pulled from the Web and matched to posts by topic. A "U Top 5" section will feature the most popular topics.

Nick said the site will evolve on a daily basis to reflect kids' ever-changing interests, with all content moderated round-the-clock. Sample content includes a poll about favorite superheroes and a quiz centered on Vanessa Hudgens.

"UPickDaily gives kids an online hub where they drive the content and can tell the world about their pop culture trends, events or anything that is top of mind -- whether it comes from the world of Nickelodeon or beyond," said Steve Youngwood, executive vp digital at Nickelodeon Kids and Family Group.
