Katz Loses Stu Olds

The radio business lost one of its most well-liked and effective leaders Saturday, with the passing of Stu Olds, president and CEO of Katz Media. Olds, 60, died Saturday morning (Dec. 4) in New York from myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS), a type of leukemia.

“He will be greatly missed,” John Hogan, president and CEO of Clear Channel Radio, told employees in an internal memo.

Olds joined Katz in the rep firm’s Chicago office in 1977, working his way up the ranks to president of Katz Radio in 1987 and president of Katz Radio Group in 1994, before heading up the rep firm in 2000.

For the present, Katz Media presidents will report to Charlie Rahilly, president of national advertiser platforms for Clear Channel.
