Kate Gosselin's Place on the TLC Slate? TBD

Discovery Networks helped launch the cable portion of the winter TCA, and yes, Kate Gosselin—of John and Kate Plus 8 fame—will be back on TLC in a new series, but the format has yet-to-be determined. Also returning are new episodes of established TLC series like Police Women, Cake Boss, LA Ink, Toddlers & Tiaras and American Chopper. Featured in the Discovery Channel portion of cable were sessions on TLC’s Addicted and What Not to Wear, Planet Green’s The Fabulous Beekman Boys, Investigation Discovery’s Prison Wives, Animal Planet’s Fatal Attractions and River Monsters, Science Channel’s Meteorite Men and Life on The Discovery Channel. Each episode of Addiction will feature recovering addict Kristina Wandzilak helping addicts and their families get on the road to recovery and healing. Said Kristina Wandzilak: “Addicted is about a family’s journey from crisis through intervention, through treatment, a parallel journey of addict and family through treatment, coming back together for afterwards with a new understanding and a new language of how their lives have been affected by the disease. Addicted is about family transformation. It is about hope, and it is about change.”What Not to Wear hosts Stacy London and Clinton Kelly were up next to celebrate the long-running fashion/reality show’s 250th episode. But considerably more serious was Discovery Investigation’s Prison Wives, a 13-part documentary about the wives and family of people that have been incarcerated.Said Pam Booker, one of the wives who claims her husband was wrongfully convicted:“We are judged every day. Not only are we as spouses, but our children are judged. Part of the reason why I chose to do this series is to help to lift the veil of secrecy and shame that surrounds people. I want my children to be able to be proud—when someone asks about their father, to be proud—to say, “This is my father. I love my father,” and not have to worry about being judged or being shamed. At the end of the day, it’s a human story. We are just like anyone else, and that’s why we hope folks will watch.”Animal Planet’s Fatal Attractions is a three-part miniseries that premieres in March and explores why some people are driven to bring dangerous, wild creatures like chimpanzees, leopards, and venomous reptiles right into their homes. River Monsters, which searches for the world’s most legendary flesh-eating freshwater fish, is now Animal Planet’s highest-rated series ever. And Meteorite Men at The Science Channel, meanwhile, will explore the questions of who we are, where we come from and how we fit in the universe.“For nearly 15 years, our Meteorite Men, Geoff Notkin and Steve Arnold, have traversed the Earth in search of alien visitors, meteorites from deep space, said Deborah Adler Myers, senior vp programming, Discovery Networks. “What I’ve learned from them is that meteorites are not only extremely rare and valuable, but they’re actually lost pieces of the universe…these cool, wondrous, natural objects that are born from planets, moons and other bits of space.”There is, no doubt, more to The Winter Press Tour than all the Leno-Conan NBC drama.
