Next up was ABC with its line-up of a repeat of Lost (#4: 3.0/ 4), which never fares well in non-originals, the original installment of Lost (#3, 6.8/10), which will certainly be on the map among adults 18-49, and waiting-to-be axed crime drama The Forgotten (#3: 3.7/ 6). As we inch closer to the finale of Lost in May, I wonder what showing Jack (Matthew Fox) as a father has to do with anything at this point. And disheveled Claire (Emilie de Ravin) was reminiscent, of course, of Danielle Rousseau (a.k.a. “The Frenchwoman”). The CW closed this fourth Tuesday in February with repeats of already renewed 90210 (0.7/ 1) and certain-to-be canceled Melrose Place (0.4/ 1). Source: Nielsen Media Research data (R = repeat)_____________________________________________________________________________ National Ratings in Prime-Time:Week of February 15, 2010 There was optimism aplenty at dominant NBC this week, with the strength of the ongoing Vancouver Olympic Winter Games lifting the Peacock net into No. 3 for the season (ahead of ABC) in both total viewers (8.7 million vs. 8.6 million) and adults 18-49 (2.9 rating vs. 2.7), tied for No. 2 (with CBS) among adults 18-34 (2.4 rating each, ahead of ABC's 2.2), and No. 2 in men 18-34 (2.3 vs. 2.1 for CBS and 1.6 for ABC). NBC, of course, swept the week of Feb. 15 in households and total viewers, with seven of the eight most-watched shows and a first-place finish in the three key demos -- adults 18-49, adults 25-54 and adults 18-34. Growth versus the comparable year-ago week (which did not, of course, include The Winter Olympics) was as much as 301 percent in total viewers. Too bad NBC has so little to promote on this stellar platform. Fox held the No. 2 spot across the board, but erosion versus one year earlier was 20 to 29 percent. CBS and ABC, which shared the No. 3 and 4 spots, were also on the double-digit downside, but ABC’s losses were more severe at as much as 49 percent among adults 18-34. Last-place The CW, which included low-rated Sunday in the year-ago mix, actually built in all five surveyed categories. Repeats were, of course, visible outside of NBC, but worth noting was the first head-to-head competition in originals between ABC’s Desperate Housewives and recently introduced Undercover Boss on CBS. Although the competing Winter Olympics reigned supreme on NBC, Undercover Boss held a noticeable advantage over Desperate Housewives as follows: Sunday 9 p.m.Undercover Boss (CBS)Viewers: 13.76 million (#10 overall), A18-49: 4.8/11 (#10) Desperate Housewives (ABC)Viewers: 10.92 million (#15), A18-49: 3.7/ 9 (#14t) Recently introduced Fox Wednesday 8 p.m. drama Human Target held up relatively well, with 7.21 million viewers (#34) and a 2.1/ 6 among adults 18-49 (#31t). But just three episodes into its run, Fox Thursday 9 p.m. occupant Past Life dipped to just 3.49 million viewers (#62) and a 1.1/ 3 in the demo (#61t), and was immediately removed from the schedule. Kitchen Nightmares will air in its place for at least three weeks.
