HBO's True Blood Takes a Bite Out of Ratings

Season three of HBO’s saucy vampire drama True Blood went straight for the jugular Sunday night, as 5.1 million viewers were sucked in by the premiere.

Per Nielsen live-plus-same-day ratings data, the June 13 installment of True Blood out-delivered the season two opener by 38 percent. An 11 p.m. encore presentation lured another 1.29 million viewers, for a total draw of 6.38 million.

The 9 p.m. premiere was flat versus the season two finale. To date, True Blood drew its single largest audience on August 29, 2009, as episode 22 scared up 5.33
