Gray Television Names New CEO

Keeping it in the family, Gray Television’s board of directors unanimously appointed Hilton Howell, Jr. to succeed J. Mack Robinson as CEO, in addition to his current role as vice-chairman of the board. Howell is the son-in-law of Robinson.

Robinson, 85, will continue as a voting member of the board of directors as Chairman Emeritus of the company.

Robert Prather, Jr. will continue as TV company’s president and chief operating officer of the 36-station TV group, as well as a member of the board of directors.

“I am looking forward to expanding my role with Gray and to working together with Bob Prather and all of the associates of the company to continue to improve the fine news operations and local commitment of al our television properties.
