In one fell swoop, Showtime has added six lesbian characters to this year’s TV ranks—albeit on the nonscripted side—with its new reality series The Real L Word, which premiered on the pay cable network June 20.

Of course, the brains behind the series is executive producer Ilene Chaiken, who helped create the show’s scripted predecessor The L Word.
