Gannett, the largest owner of NBC affiliates, may have taken a hit with Leno, but it's winning back viewers with the Olympics. KUSA-TV in Denver was the top-rated NBC station for the first week of the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics, outperforming the national average by 50 percent.

KUSA-TV was not only No. 1 in total households, but also No. 1 among adults 25-54, per Nielsen data.

Two other Gannett NBC stations also scored ratings that placed them among the Top 5 in adults 25-54. KARE-TV in Minneapolis was No. 3 and KSK-TV in St. Louis was No. 4. WKYC-TV in Cleveland was No. 8, giving Gannett NBC four of the top 10 stations in the adult 25-54 demo.

"These Olympics are proving to be a huge ratings success for both NBC and our local affiliates," said Dave Lougee, president of Gannett Broadcasting.
