Fox Gives Back-Nine Order to Brooklyn Nine-Nine

No decision made on Dads

Brooklyn Nine-Nine.

On the heels of a trio of back-nine orders at CBS, Fox today announced that it has made a full series commitment to its new Monday night sitcom, Brooklyn Nine-Nine.

Nine-Nine’s back-nine brings its total order to 22 episodes.

“It’s exciting to see that both critics and fans love Brooklyn Nine-Nine as much as we do,” said Fox entertainment chairman Kevin Reilly. “With Andy [Samberg] and Andre [Braugher] out in front of this incredible ensemble, it feels like this show is going to be around for a long time.”

Along with the full order, Brooklyn is about to raise its profile significantly. Fox on Friday confirmed that the show will be paired with New Girl in a special hour of comedy that will air immediately after its coverage of Super Bowl XLVIII (Feb. 2).

Per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data, Brooklyn Nine-Nine is averaging 4.08 million total viewers and a 1.8 in the 18-49 demo. While C3 data is limited—it takes three weeks to process the currency—Brooklyn in its second week improved 11 percent to a 2.0 upon application of the commercial ratings.

Also working in Brooklyn’s favor is its deliveries of high-income viewers. The cop show/workplace comedy hybrid boasts the third highest concentration of consumers with an annual household income of $100,000 and up.

Brooklyn is currently building on its 8 p.m. lead-in (Dads) by a factor of 13 percent. The fate of Seth MacFarlane’s live-action comedy remains up in the air, as Fox has not ordered a full run of episodes. That said, the network has asked the Dads writers for six additional scripts.

Created and written by Dan Goor (Parks and Recreation) and Michael Schur (Parks and Recreation, The Office) Brooklyn is produced by Universal Television, 3 Arts Entertainment and Fremulon.

Along with Samberg and Braugher, the ensemble cast includes Terry Crews, Chelsea Peretti, Melissa Fumero, Stephanie Beatriz and Joe Lo Truglio.
