Fox Business Network Lands Cox Carriage

Fox Business Network has landed carriage on Cox Communications systems nationwide, upping its distribution to some 45 million subscribers.

Beginning Jan. 1, the start-up will be available to the majority of Cox’s digital subs, across a number of key markets, including: Phoenix; San Diego; Las Vegas; New Orleans; Providence, RI; Roanoke, VA; Omaha, NE; Norfolk/Hampton Roads, VA; Oklahoma City and Wichita, KS.

All told, FBN will pick up around 2 million new subs in the new year, or about 60 percent of Cox’s digital customers.

The Cox deal marks another advance in distribution for FBN, which launched on Oct. 15, 2007, to more than 30 million subs. Of the top-tier operators that still haven’t agreed to pick up the channel, EchoStar’s DISH Network (13 million subs) and Cablevision (3.1 million) represent the largest discrete collectives of potential FBN viewers.
