Marc Juris unceremoniously left TruTV after nearly ten years back in May, but he's been swift to rebound: the exec is back at his old stomping grounds over at AMC Networks, this time as the head of WEtv. Former president and gm Kim Martin departed the network last week (AMC says she'll stay on in an "advisory role," though what that role's duties will be is not terribly clear), and Juris will step into her old role, where he will report to COO Ed Carroll.
WEtv is going through some changes at the moment much like sister network Sundance Channel. The company has begun running new scripted series from writer/producers with movie cred in earnest, notably the well-received Rectify and Jane Campion's Top of the Lake on Sundance. AMC Networks is making the same large bet on Richard LaGravenese's The Divide—formerly Philly Lawyer—at WEtv. LaGravenese scripted recent high-profile HBO original Behind the Candelabra, as well as this February's Beautiful Creatures and culty comedy The Fisher King.
Juris will be able to find the coffee machine: the exec worked as gm of AMC when the network was making the switch to ad-supported programming and held a number of positions across the company (then Rainbow Media), including a stint at music channel Fuse.
“We’re glad to have Marc Juris back at the company,” said Carroll. “Marc possesses a unique blend of programming and marketing expertise and has a proven track record of growing both brands and ratings.” The network's flagships properties are still beauty and wedding programming, notably the Bridezillas franchise, Braxton Family Values and L.A. Hair.
