Emmis Ends Privacy Bid

After repeated attempts to take Emmis Communications private, JS Acquisition, the group formed by Jeff Smulyan, CEO of Emmis to tender the buyout offer, has called it off. Smulyan proposed taking the radio and magazine company private in May, but was unable to complete the transaction despite numerous meetings with shareholders.

In a statement, released Thursday (Sept. 9), Emmis said that Alden Global Capital, a major stockholder, had reversed its support for the transaction and backed out of the deal.
