Yesterday, Dish’s Charlie Ergen announced that his company would be partnering with Netflix rival HBO to add to Dish Online's video streaming content. "We plan to compete more aggressively with Netflix," said Dish’s online chief Bruce Eisen, according to a Friday report in the New York Post.

Instead of licensing its content out to streaming services like Netflix, HBO has chosen to launch its own online streaming service through TV providers.

The deal will add 1,800 titles from the HBO and Cinemax rosters to Dish's streaming service, including popular HBO shows like True Blood.
