Current Media has named Ken Ripley executive vp of advertising sales.
In his new role, the 20-year ad sales veteran will look to expand Current TV’s Viewer Created Ad Message program, while developing new peer-to-peer marketing and advertising initiatives. (The VCAM model invites viewers to upload their own video ads for participating Current clients; if their spot runs on the company’s flagship channel, the contributor receives $2,500. Moreover, if the sponsor elects to bring the user-generated spot elsewhere, the payout can go as high as $60,000.)
