Fans of Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert are so devoted that as many as one in 10 said they’d sooner swear off sex for the rest of their lives than be deprived of either late-night show.

As part of a weeklong consumer study, Comedy Central challenged nearly 200 viewers to give up watching The Daily Show With Jon Stewart and The Colbert Report. In addition to switching off Comedy Central’s 11 p.m.-midnight block, the participants also agreed to avoid any exposure to the two satirists altogether––a restriction that covered everything from chuckling over a tweet about Colbert’s “Keep Fear Alive” rally or reading New York magazine’s Sept.
