CNBC Preps Launch in South Korea

SEOUL CNBC has struck a partnership with Seoul Broadcasting System to launch a 24-hour Korean news service in January.

SBS is the only private nationwide terrestrial broadcasting company in South Korea. It also boasts a portfolio of pay TV channels including SBS Golf, SBS Plus, SBS Sports and E! Entertainment Channel Korea.

Satpal Brainch, president and managing director, CNBC Asia Pacific, said the move continues its strategy of localizing content throughout the Asia Pacific region.

“CNBC is always looking for new opportunities to provide our affluent, highly educated audience with fast, accurate, actionable and unbiased business news,” he said.

SBS-CNBC will focus on Korea’s daily business news, complemented with international coverage from CNBC bureaus around the world.
