Cartoon Network is letting kids play amateur developer for its latest online game. On May 5, CartoonNetwork.com will roll out Ben 10 Alien Force: Game Creator, which provides kids with tools to create their own games tied to the latest version of the popular Ben 10 series, which premiered on the animation-centric network April 18.

Via the Game Creator tool, users will be able to scroll through a preset assortment of game options, determining which powers their characters will possess and which obstacles they'll face, as well as the overall look, feel and layout of the game's environment, creating the potential for numerous original variations.

Those customized versions have the chance to become viral, as kids can share their creations with friends, a first for the site.

"Certainly, our online gamers have a great affinity for Ben 10," said Paul Condolora, senior vp, digital at Turner Broadcasting System's animation, young adults and kids media group.

"This new Game Creator offering opens up a brand new experience for our gamers to share with fans everywhere and builds on that strong, established Ben 10 connection."

Besides being a consistent ratings performer, various Ben 10-related games have proved popular among the site's game-loving audience. Ben 10 Alien Force: Forever Defense generated more than 5 million plays during the week of its debut in March.
