Cablevision Striking Out With MLB.com Offer?

With no immediate end in site for restoring Fox programming to its 3 million customers in New York and Philadelphia, Cablevision has resorted to a new tactic: reimbursing its subscribers for the $10 online cost of an MLB.com World Series package. The move puts a price tag on Fox programming, which aired Game 1 of the World Series Wednesday night (Oct. 27).

Cablevision’s offer could add up to a miss-step and affect retransmission negotiations going forward, according to David Bank, an analyst with RBC Capital Marketing.
