Notes of Interest

-Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon Raises Almost $59 Million:

It was not a record. But despite the struggling economy, the annual Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon raised $58.9 million, which was slightly below last year’s $60.5 million. In 2008, the Telethon raised $65 million.

-Danielle Staub Out on The Real Housewives of New Jersey:

She had her hair pulled, filed a lawsuit and basically spent every single moment of the recently concluded season of Bravo’s The Real Housewives of New Jersey plotting against her former friends. But hell-raiser Danielle Staub, who made amends on part two of the reunion show last night, will not be returning for season three of the Bravo docu-drama.

-Kara Di Guardi Exits American Idol:

As expected, Kara DioGuardi, who joined Fox’s American Idol just two seasons ago, has departed. The following statement was issued explaining her “resignation,” but we all really know why she left.

“I felt like I won the lottery when I joined American Idol, but I feel like now is the best time to leave Idol,” said DioGuardi. “I am very proud to have been associated with American Idol – it has truly been an amazing experience. I am grateful to Fox, FremantleMedia and 19 Entertainment, as well as the cast, crew and contestants, for all they have given to me. I look forward to my next challenge, and want to thank everyone who has supported me. All the best to everyone on Season 10!”

As for Kara’s replacement, negotiations are still going on with Jennifer Lopez, with an official announcement expected at any moment.
