On day six of TCA’s annual event, ABC has granted six early series pick-ups for 2011-12: Sitcoms Modern Family, Cougar Town and The Middle; and dramas Castle, Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice.
“We are proud of what these series have accomplished, both creatively and by the numbers, and consider this our future,” said Paul Lee president of ABC Entertainment. “We also picked up a new drama from Shonda Rhimes and two new sitcoms [which have yet to be announced], and are starting to see some very good scripts come in for next season.”
