Having stalled its development process the longest of the four major networks following the writers strike, ABC announced it was picking up five more new series for the 2008-09 season, including three hours and two half-hours.
Two of the hour pick-ups are what the network describes as “comedic” procedurals: Castle, starring Nathan Fillion (Desperate Housewives, Waitress) as a mystery novelist who comes to the aid of the NYPD; and The Unusuals, starring Amber Tamblyn (Joan of Arcadia, Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants) as an NYPD vice detective.
