Tim Minear, the writer/producer who co-created Fox's 2007 auto race drama Drive, has renewed his contract at 20th Century Fox TV, signing a new two-year deal at the studio.

Minear most recently has been working as a consulting producer on Joss Whedon's midseason Fox drama, Dollhouse. Minear and Whedon have worked together before, both on Firefly and Angel.

Earlier this week, longtime 20th writer David E. Kelley, left the studio for a three-year deal at Warner Bros. TV. Kelley had spent more than two decades at the studio, creating such hit series as Ally McBeal, The Practice, and Boston Public. His most recent drama, Boston Legal, enters its final season on ABC next fall.

Also this week, My Name is Earl writers John Hoberg and Kat Likkel signed a two-year deal at 20th. Under terms of that contract, the writing team--who are married in real life--will be named co-executive producers on the NBC comedy next season, while developing new projects for the studio.
