Yahoo Slashes Workforce by 4%

Yahoo’s workforce is 4 percent smaller—just in time for the holidays.

The Sunnyvale, Calif.–based Web portal laid off roughly 600 employees on Tuesday (Dec. 14), according to CNNMoney.com.

Though rumored for months, the cuts come at a time of prolonged struggle for Yahoo. CEO Carol Bartz has been under fire for failing to turn around the company’s weak stock price, while facing a slew of senior-level defections. Bartz recently brought on former News Corp. digital exec Ross Levinsohn to serve as Yahoo’s new evp of the Americas region.

Many of the jobs eliminated were concentrated within Yahoo’s product team, per reports.
