House GOP Gives Bid to Overturn Net Neutrality Rules Emergency Status

The House Republican leadership is putting a resolution that would overturn the Federal Communications Commission’s net neutrality rules on the fast track. The resolution, which passed the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee two weeks ago, will get an emergency meeting in the House Rules Committee on Monday.

Giving the resolution emergency status means the Republicans can move it past the House faster than they would otherwise be able to, but doing it at the same time that Congress is trying to pass a budget and keep the government from shutting down next Friday is sure to rankle Democrats.
