SI Taps Big Sportscasters for 'Behind the Mic' Web Series

Sports Illustrated has lined up a slew of top sports broadcasters to contribute to a new Web series, Behind the Mic, which will debut on Oct. 1.

Among the personalities SI.com and partner Turner Sports have line up to express their opinions on the latest sports news are former NBA great and TNT commentator Charles Barkley, Sunday Night Football analyst Cris Collinsworth, baseball legend Cal Ripken and Fox Sports studio analyst Howie Long.

The show will consist of 90-second bursts of commentary on that week’s sports news. For example, the debut episode will feature former Boston College star Doug Flutie breaking down upstart Boise State’s chances against college football’s power teams, and golf analyst Nick Faldo previewing this upcoming Ryder Cup.

Among the other broadcasters lined up for Behind the Mic are CBS football analyst Phil Simms, as well as NBA legends turned commentators Kevin McHale and Reggie Miller.

Turner Sports, which recently assumed control of all SI.com’s ad sales, has landed Allstate as the sponsor of Behind the Mic.
