Samsung Countersues Apple

Responds to Mac attack by making its own claim of patent violation

Last week, Apple filed a lawsuit against Samsung for copyright and patent infringements, accusing Samsung of copying Apple’s iPhone and iPad. Now, Samsung is launching countersuits in Japan, South Korea, and Germany claiming that the Apple devices infringe on its own technology patents.

The Samsung suit names 10 patents that it believes Apple has violated, including ones involving wireless data communication technology, 3G technology for reducing errors during data transmission, and power reduction.

Samsung, whose products rely on Google’s Android operating system, has become Apple’s biggest competition in the tablet market.
