The royal wedding on April 29 is now only a click (or two) away. The royal household announced a comprehensive online experience for virtually attending the nuptials of Prince William and Kate Middleton. If waiting outside of Buckingham Palace amid the masses for a glimpse of the royal couple isn’t your idea of a Friday, watch live streaming coverage of the event on a dedicated YouTube channel. If that doesn’t quench your thirst for pomp and circumstance, cascading tweets, @ClarenceHouse, and Flickr photo updates will be available from the royal household staff.
Buckingham Palace is reaching out to a new generation of royals watchers. Viewers from around the world tuned in to watch Prince Charles and Lady Diana walk down the aisle 20 years ago. Now they can not only watch, but also participate in the festivities by sending personal messages of congratulations to the couple with the Twitter hash tag, #rw2011, and clicking the “I’m attending” button on the British Monarchy's Facebook page.
The streaming video footage will come from the BBC’s coverage of the event, however without the commentary from the corporation’s presenters. YouTube will immediately replay the live coverage as soon as it is finished for viewers in other time zones.
