NBC Sports and Yahoo Are in League

Yahoo to share in stream of live NFL games

NBC Sports and Yahoo announced a deal on Sunday that gives NBC's digital and television properties access to Yahoo's sports reporting, and lets Yahoo in on some of NBC's marquee properties including the the holy grail: live streaming of Sunday Night Football online, as well as the NHL Game of the Week. Both NBC Sports and Yahoo Sports will maintain separate sites, but the two organizations will collaborate on news and events coverage on NBC's online and on-air coverage.

Notably, the companies' statement to press prominently mentioned fantasy sports, as well as college content. Among the journalists slated to work across companies: NBC’s venerable Bob Costas and Mike Florio; and Yahoo’s Dan Wetzel and Adrian Wojnarowski. Yahoo's investigative reporters will contribute reporting to NBC. Yahoo will also take over NBC Sports' Rotoworld, the network's fantasy site, and Yahoo Sports will link to and promote the NBC Sports Live Extra video player.

Most NBC Sports content will be distributed by way of Live Extra, with TV Everywhere authentication.

The companies said that Yahoo Sports and NBC Sports would sell "scalable advertising solutions to reach engaged audiences through distinctive opportunities and sponsorships." The sites affected include Yahoo Sports, the Rivals Network, NBCSports.com, NBC Sports Regional Networks, Golf Channel.com, Rotoworld.com and Allisports.com. NBCSports.com will continue to be the sports content provider for NBCNews.com.
