NBC has launched a original, branded entertainment Web series on TheWB.com to promote its cult series Chuck.
The new five part show, Chuck Presents—Buy Hard: The Jeff and Lester Story, is also available on several Chuck fan sites, and will eventually be distributed on Microsoft’s Xbox Live service and Xbox.com/halo. Microsoft’s Halo is sponsoring Buy Hard; the show was created and produced as a result of a partnership between Warner Bros. Television Group’s Worldwide Television Marketing unit, the Chuck creative staff and Microsoft.
The Web series is tied into Chuck season finale last spring, during which the Buy More—the fictional store where Chuck and his pals worked—burned down. In Buy Hard, Chuck’s friends Jeff (actor Scott Krinksy) and Lester (actor Vik Sahay) are on the run—but are also in the market to purchase the new version of the mega-popular sci fi game Halo: Halo: Reach, which will be released on Sept. 14.
New episodes of Buy Hard are scheduled to be posted daily, starting on Sept. 7 through Monday Sept. 13. Meanwhile, the fourth season of Chuck will premiere on NBC on Sept. 20.
