NBC News Digital (formed last July after Microsoft caughed up its remaining 50 percent of its joint venture) beefed up its masthead on Tuesday (Oct. 2) with a slew of internal promotions.
Specifically, Gregory Gittrich was named vp and executive editor of NBCNews.com. Gittrich was most recenlty vp of digital media. Also, Today.com will be overseen by Jennifer Brown, formerly general manager of the site. Richard Wolffe, an on-air MSNBC political analyst, will head up MSNBC's digital site, set to launch in 2013.
Former digital media director Ryan Osborn will also get a new title and increased responsibility as the new vp of digital innovation for NBC News—a newly created position that would seem to prove that the news network is committed to long-term social strategy. NBC's chief digital officer Vivian Schiller, who was mum on this annoucnement during the network's Advertising Week leadership breakfast on Tuesday, will continue to oversee and manage all digital operations.
