MySpace Acquires iLike

MySpace has announced the acquisition of iLike, a two-year-old social-music application company, which claims 50 million unique users—including many who use the product via MySpace’s rival Facebook. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The Seattle, Wash.-based iLike is one of several Web platforms, which purport to help users discover new music based on their own personal music tastes and through the recommendations of friends. With the move, which had been rumored for several weeks, MySpace would appear be deepening its commitment to having digital music serve as one of the social-networking site’s core content offerings.
