Machinima has tapped Peter Pouliopoulos, formerly vp of the entertainment category for Univision's client development group, to serve as vp of media and entertainment ad sales at the gamer-centric video entertainment network. The new job will put Pouliopoulos in charge of advertisements from film studios, broadcast and cable TV networks, and music industry clients. He will report to Jay Sampson, evp, global sales, marketing and advertising operations.

Pouliopoulos has his work cut out for him this year. Without reliable tentpoles for the 2013 summer season, the entertainment category has been down, especially among all-important movie studios. Still, Machinima reaches young men in larger proportion to its total viewership than most television networks, so smart money may still be at gaming and geek culture hubs.
