George Alexander Louis, the baby boy born to Prince William and Kate Middleton, has had the world's attention for months—and the advertising/content discovery platform Outbrain has quantified just how much attention the young prince received on the company's network of 100,000 publishers on the day he was born.
The baby's birth was announced just before 8:30 p.m. on July 22 in London. And during that 8 to 9 p.m. hour, 12 percent of total worldwide content consumption on the Outbrain network was related to the royal birth, according to the company's study.
Overall on July 22 in the U.K., "baby watching" accounted for 9 percent of total content consumption on the Outbrain network of sites, according to the study. In the U.S., that number was 6 percent. But at 9 p.m. local time in London (4 p.m. here on the East Coast), the United States' appetite for royal baby news exceeded the U.K.'s by 0.4 percent.
In all, Outbrain found there were about 13,060 pieces of royal baby-related content published on the company's network on July 22, based on keywords that match up with the story.
