What’s the first information you consume in the morning?
I check my iPhone and see what time it is.
What do you read or watch or listen to at the breakfast table?
[My husband, son and I] don’t lounge. I wish we did. All that stuff that you’re describing happens at vacation.
What occupies your mind in the car, on the subway, train or bus?
Whatever task I have to be doing next, and how I’ll get it done.
Are you a TV junkie or on an airtime-restricted diet?
No, I keep the TV on sometimes for company. I like it.
Before bed, do you bite into a novel, graze on Twitter or fast until morning?
Sometimes I’m so tired I just put the TV on…I watched Joan [River’s] reality show, and I really liked it. It was really funny.
Which is more nutritious: print or Web?
Well, I like to read a magazine. I still run out and get, you know, Italian Vogue or, you know, those kind of couture magazines, things like that. The important news I kind of get to read online.
Give us the skinny on your favorite app.
I play Words [With Friends] with my husband.
What about analog Scrabble?
My mother loves Scrabble. I need to get my mother an iPhone so she can communicate with me. If I get her an iPhone, she’ll probably text me all the time.
Pandora, Spotify or Rdio?
I don’t use Pandora. I don’t like a machine telling me what I like or knowing what I like. We’re living in Big Brother. Let’s face it. You’ve got an iPhone, and they know exactly where you are. So it’s kind of a weird life we live in. We get to do all these things, and we have all this media. But along with that is the release of your privacy. Look who’s talking: me, who did a reality show.
Rolling Stone or Pitchfork?
Ooh, I think I’d read both. It depends what was in Rolling Stone that week. And I would definitely read Pitchfork because I’ve never heard of it. I’m always curious about new things. I think that the Internet is a great tool for that. I can’t say I don’t Google everything because I do.
With such a bloated media universe, how do you cut out the fat?
Just do what you like. You don’t have to do all this stuff. You can cut out the fat real easy: Shut everything off. Go for a walk.
