Hillary Clinton Is Looking to Boost Her Campaign's Digital Advertising Talent

Several data-focused openings have popped up

The 2016 presidential election is already shaping up to be the most digital election to date, and Hillary Clinton is looking to hire ad-tech and data-minded staffers to build her digital presence.

In the past week, Hillary for America has posted three job listings for gigs based at her Brooklyn, N.Y., headquarters on ad-trade websites like AdExchanger and Digiday. Those jobs include digital advertising reporting analyst, digital media associate and search engine specialist. What's more, on Clinton's campaign website, there are a handful of other openings, including data scientist, digital media buyer and digital organizing analyst. The latter is responsible for "designing and building tools to guide strategies at all levels of the campaign, especially around digital and field data."

Hillary for America did not respond to press inquiries, but it seems more likely than not that the positions are new.

The nature of the jobs—which require nitty-gritty, ad-tech expertise—demonstrate that Clinton's campaign is determined to gain a digital edge on the Bernie Sanders camp and, if she's the Democratic nominee, in the general election. The requirements for the digital media associate position, for instance, include leading ad programs across online channels, managing traffic and working with tech vendors. Meanwhile, the digital advertising reporting analyst will oversee all of the campaign's media buying.

The job openings are the latest examples of Clinton's focus on hiring people with online marketing backgrounds.

Last year, Clinton hired longtime Google exec Stephanie Hannon as chief technology officer. Hannon previously was Google's director of product management for civic innovation and social impact. And according to LinkedIn, Eurry Kim started as a senior analyst at Hillary for America in July after working at Facebook in a marketing science role "to measure Facebook as an advertising platform."
