Google Updates Stock of Papers in Search

Google announced Monday that it has updated its index of searchable digital newspapers, adding several publications to its roster and quadrupling the number of articles in its “News Archive Search.”

Last September, the popular search engine launched an initiative to digitize archival newspapers and make them available online.

Some of the publications newly added to the Google News Index are the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, the Village Voice, the Sydney (Australia) Morning Herald, and the Halifax (Nova Scotia) Gazette.

Google’s News Archive search allows users to browse millions of pages of news archives exactly as printed.
