Fan Tweets to Fly on Emmy Telecast

NBC is planning to engage viewers during this Sunday’s broadcast of the 62nd Primetime Emmy Awards as never before: by actually allowing fans to insert themselves into the show via Twitter.

Prior to and during the Emmy broadcast, viewers will be encouraged to tweet possible on-camera introductions of celebrity presenters — rather than the usual “this beautiful actress is the star of CBS’ The Good Wife.”

As the show unfolds, host Jimmy Fallon will select several user-submitted tweets to be used on-air.

“You can tweet something from your living room and five minutes later it’ll be on TV,” said Fallon, who has embraced these sorts of user-participation-via-social-media tactics on his own late-night show.
