Facebook Testing Bundled Notification Emails

Say goodbye to inbox-clogging messages

Sick of the deluge of Facebook emails every time you get a message or a friend request, but still want to be notified about them? The social network is finally addressing its inbox-clogging email problem by trying a new feature that will group notifications.

In a post on its wall today, Facebook announced, “We're testing a feature for people who are very active on Facebook and receive lots of email notifications from us. We'll provide a new summary email and turn off most individual email notifications. If you want to turn them back on, there's a control in your account settings.”

So instead of getting dozens of Facebook emails each time you get a reply in a multiperson message thread of receive friend requests, those notifications will be bundled into a single email that includes a summary of all of those activities. Right now, the setting is only available to a small number of Facebook users but could roll out more widely if the feature proves popular.
