Last year, Facebook launched Facebook Studio as a platform for agencies to showcase their social campaigns and interact with one another, an online community to get up to speed on the latest in Facebook advertising. The social network has formalized the site’s educational aspects with Facebook Studio Edge, which the company announced in June.

“The Studio Edge program actually started as in-person training sessions that we conducted with a series of agencies in New York, London and various places around the world,” said Facebook's head of agency marketing Jennifer Kattula. Facebook has taken that education project online. Facebook has been “road-testing” Studio Edge’s course content with a few agency holding companies, said Kattula, and on Wednesday the platform opens up to all agencies and may eventually extend to brands, small businesses and even the general population.

Studio Edge features courses in three Facebook marketing categories—Pages, Ads and Technology—that agency employees can take in order to school themselves on things like Page Insights or the company’s platform policy. Facebook plans to add one or two new courses per month, Kattula said. Each course takes about 15 minutes to complete, and agency employees can earn badges for completing courses. They can also share their Studio Edge status, such as being an expert in a given category, to the News Feed. Users can be ranked as novice, intermediate or expert in each of three course categories depending on how many courses they have completed but must continue to take courses in order to keep their status.

Additionally Facebook has revamped the Facebook Studio directory. Now in addition to listing agencies, people and brands also appear. Agency employees can add their school and work information and Studio Edge badges to their Studio profiles to appear alongside their credited work. They can also receive notifications within Studio when a colleague credits them for a campaign submitted to the site. Users have the option to edit their profiles or deactivate the listing so that it doesn’t show up on Studio.
