Digital agency veteran James Kiernan is making the jump to the sales side with a new position at ESPN, Mediaweek has learned.
Kiernan, who was most recently svp, group client director, digital media and innovation at MediaVest, has been named senior director, digital sales and strategy, ESPN Customer Marketing and Sales—a new position at the company. Primarily, Kiernan will be tasked with overseeing ESPN’s digital video sales strategy, including the properties ESPN.com, ESPN3.com and ESPN Mobile.
An industry veteran who had logged stints at FCBi and OgilvyOne before rising up the ranks at MediaVest, Kiernan has been a regular speaker at multiple digital ad conferences in recent years.
Said an ESPN spokesperson: “We’re excited to have [Kiernan] on board to help us continue to grow our digital video business.”
