GoPro's ability to market itself through its own technology almost isn't fair. But you still have to marvel at how the high-tech camera marketer operates via social channels such as YouTube and Instagram.
In terms of the latter, GoPro is becoming a mainstay on the Adweek/Shareablee Instagram Video weekly rankings, often utilizing breathtaking clips from high in the air. But last week, the San Mateo, Calif.-based company, which has 2.9 million Instagram followers, featured a giant oceanic manta ray deep under the Pacific Ocean in a 15-second social video that garnered 146,000 interactions. That performance was good for No. 1 in our consumer electronics category.
The chart below features eight categories (auto, beauty, consumer electronics, retail, fashion, celebrity, sports leagues and TV shows), which appear every week. Two wildcard niches are always sprinkled in, and we've chosen sporting goods and luxury fashion for this week's edition.
Michael Kors' video for New York Fashion Week is another notable No. 1, as the luxury fashion brand killed it on Instagram by melding together 10 different dresses seen during 10 separate runway moments.
Check out GoPro, Michael Kors and the other winners' clips while seeing what kind of reach the brands achieved.
