WaPo Again Offering Buyouts

Nearly a year after losing 100 newsroom staffers to buyouts, The Washington Post is reportedly at it again, offering a buyout package that is apparently more limited in its pool of candidates.

According to memos obtained by E&P, the buyout will be offered to staffers in specific departments who are 50 years of age or older with at least five years at the paper.

In previous rounds, the paper lost a high number of top journalists, including several Pulitzer winners.

In her memo, Publisher Katharine Weymouth stated that if the Post doesn’t “achieve meaningful staff reductions,” there could be layoffs in the future.
